access permissions - 2008/04/11 02:30
I am attempting to setup a Joomla 1.0.15 site with the following groups and categories:
Group A – visitors -- Category A – unlimited Free download access Group B – registered users -- Category A unlimited access -- Count limited Category B & C access Group C – subscribers group 1 -- Category A unlimited access -- Category B unlimited access Group D – subscribers group 2 -- Category A, B, C unlimited access
I am using AEC to manage placement of members in the groups, but it would appear that user group access is limited to 1 category (container). Is this true and if so, does a hack exist to provide access to multiple categories for a group.
My intention is to provide an upgrade path to members. I moved to ReMOSitory from DOCman because DOCman could not provide view all access to all categories/files.
Thinking about what I have read, in ReMOSitory I could have multiple links to a file, so I could recreate the categories within the group that I wanted them to have access to, but this seems like a lot of extra work.
If I use a hierarchical structure for the categories, with the least access being the bottom, and building access as I go up, and I applied permissions to child categories, would that provide the access I am looking for?
Looking forward to any assistance,
Thanx,
Ed
