Bad install, but cannot remove. - 2007/04/17 15:44 I tried to install ReMOSitory and it failed: see attached file.
File Attachment:
File name: remository.txt
File size:6669 bytes

Now I have a menu item in my mainmenu that goes nowhere (404) it is called remository and I cannot remove it as a menu because it does not appear anywhere.
I try to uninstall but remository does not appear as a component, mambot or anything at all, so I cannot uninstall it.

Any help welcome!

Re:Bad install, but cannot remove. - 2007/04/17 17:59 The Remository Manager component will clean up after a problem by removing any part of Remository. Use with care!

If the only problem you have is the menu entry, simply delete it using the usual menu maintenance facilities.

I presume you mean to remove files or directories associated with Remository? I am not sure what I am looking for, but I can open the install zip, and look for files and structures similar to the install zip in or under the /html directory. If you mean to delete a component of Remository (there is more than one?) I cannot see any Remository components in Mambo admin to remove (which is part of the problem). If the only problem you have is the menu entry, simply delete it using the usual menu maintenance facilities.
Problem is the menu entry does not appear in the menu maintenance facility. The only clue I can think of is that I have installed Virtuemart. Why this would affect it is beyond my understanding of Mambo, Virtuemart or Remository. Very curly indeed! Got me totally stumped! If it is of any help, the site is www.spas4parts.com.au"
I've tried installing Remository again, and then look to remove it, but nothing changes - same error as posted above.

Re:Bad install, but cannot remove. - 2007/04/20 17:51 Yes. Remository is a single component, but the Remository Manager component is a utility that can remove the database tables (they are not removed on an uninstall in case an upgrade is intended), remove the code, or remove any Remository linked menu items.

The problem is that the Mambo/Joomla installer doesn't always leave a clean situation and there can be files or database entries left, even though nothing is showing. You can sort out problems of that kind with Remository Manager.
