If I understand correctly, the code that BalthaZar posted above would also enable the option of password protection on files.
I'm developing a website for a group of scientists, and some of them want rigorous control over who downloads their stuff.
They specifically asked for a system that, instead of allowing immediate download for some of the files, sends the author an email, prompting him to give a user a password if he chooses to allow the download. The password would only last a limited amount of time, and could only be used by the user who placed the request.
Now, I doubt that this specific request is (or ever will be) in the plans, so all I ask is to point me in the right direction. Remository is a big component, and I'm supposed do be developing their code, the website just as an afterthought. Could anyone point me to which file(s)/function(s) I should alter to make this work?
When I get it to work, I'll post it here, in case someone else finds it useful.
