Re:New user -- where do I begin??? - 2008/11/25 10:56 I sympathise with your problem. Documentation is a difficult issue, and so far nobody has volunteered to help with it. My time is constrained, and there is much pressure for more development.

In principle, I am strongly in favour of cooperation with other components, but few of them bother to collaborate or to publish useful API information.

You answer your own question about access controls - Remository needed more advanced mechanisms, and the only available solution from my point of view was to use the modern and effective role based access control (RBAC) system from my own Aliro CMS. It does things that are impossible with the old fashioned systems in Mambo/Joomla.

A container is a generic name for categories, folders, or whatever. The Remository system has always allowed an arbitrary depth of nesting, and it is hard to know what terminology is best.

Most people find that installing Remository and adding a few files is pretty easy if you have any familiarity with installing extensions. Remository does its best to make it easy by adding a default container and a default menu entry, so it is ready to use as soon as it is installed.
