Remository Popular 3.20c Download

Description:

Remository module to show the most popular downloads. It lists them in order of popularity, showing the number of downloads for each. Optionally, the description of the file can also be shown, with the ability to set the number of characters permitted. Restrictions on who can see what are honoured.

This version REQUIRES the final release version of Remository 3.20.  It is optimised to make use of common code distributed as part of the main Remository component.  3.20c contains a correction to a coding error in 3.20b relating to Itemid.

The module will work across the whole repository by default, but you can specify a category from which the files are to be selected.  Or you can install the module more than once, and have separate displays for different categories. 

This variant relies on the information held against each file on the total number of downloads ever. It may well be the most suitable while your log table is building up. However, once that has happened, it will be more interesting to use the alternative module that works against the log file, giving a moving figure based on the last so many days of downloads - you can specify the number of days to be taken into account. If you are creating a completely new Remository installation, you may prefer the alternative from the start.
