Description:

The new Glossary mambot that automatically finds terms in any content, and inserts a popup definition of the term. The terms have to be defined using the Glossary component, which is a prerequisite for running glossarbot.  Ideal for sites that use technical terms of any kind, where some visitors will find an explanation of the terms helpful.

Glossarbot has a number of configuration parameters, both to determine exactly how it works and to control the appearance of the results. For example, you can choose to match words only, or to include matches against parts of words (may cause some surprises!). You can also choose whether to annotate every occurrence of a term, or just the first one in a particular content item.

This version has a couple of improvements.  The pattern matching has been improved to handle words with accented characters at the beginning or end of the word (even if the accented character is the first or last in a section of text).  Also, the call to the quite large overlib Javascript library is suppressed for any page that does not have any Glossary terms and therefore does not need any popups.

Just one note of warning - the approach used by Glossarbot is very effective with a small glossary, but will become impossibly slow with a very large one.  Exactly where the boundary lies will depend on the performance of your server.
